Kujira Inari Ryukyu Whisky is the entry expression from Kujira, the Okinawan whisky made by Masahiro Distillery from awamori, the islands' traditional spirit of indica rice and black koji, aged in white oak. Inari is the Japanese deity of rice, a fitting patron for a whisky whose soul is rice rather than barley. It comes in a 700ml bottle. The profile is sophisticated and gentle: subtle oak, caramel and dried fruit with an unexpected, delightful rice sweetness that sets it apart from every Scotch-style whisky, and a remarkably smooth, enduring finish. It is easy to enjoy neat, on the rocks, or in a Japanese highball with soda and a twist of citrus. This bottle is an affordable and fascinating introduction to Ryukyu whisky.
